DESCRIPTION: The Children’s Center Summer Program at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility invites you to enjoy a week or more as a volunteer in its nationally recognized center, uniting inmate mothers and their children (ages 4-16). Drive children to and from the prison and work in the center from Sunday through Thursday. The nine sessions run from June 26 through August 25th. Room and board is provided in the New York City area. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. DESCRIPTION: Seasonal Ministry: Pastoral outreach to migrant farm workers and their families in rural settings. Coordinate volunteers from the local parish to welcome and provide orientation to a variety of services available in the community. Need to possess a positive regard for, and an understanding of, the Catholic faith; Be bi-lingual (Spanish-English); Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record; Have interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; Be self-motivated and successful in college level responsibilities; and be able to work as a team with pastors, staff and volunteers.
