Calling all writers!

Our first installment of "variations on a theme" is coming out next week, Oct. 21. We have all we need for "Envy," but we're still asking readers to send us their take on some of our upcoming topics.

You can write anything you want, as long as it uses our topic as a starting point and it's a true story from your own life. We're looking for experiences told with candor and honesty.

Please include your name, city and state, mailing address, phone number and e-mail, if you have one, and keep your submissions to 375 words or less. (We have limited space.) We reserve the right to edit all submissions; if yours is chosen, we'll let you see the edited version before it's printed.

As with letters to the editor, we can't offer payment for these. But we hope it gives more of our readers a chance to share their thoughts.

Send your themes to: You can also send them by regular mail to Themes, Antonia Ryan, NCR, 115 E. Armour Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64111. Or fax them to 816-968-2280.
